Focus more on the pop, then really throw your hand. I'm not too great at them either however

just focus on getting comfortable throwing your hand to the side when you spin it to not hinder the rotation, they're an awkward trick I can never get consistently

Do lots and lots of fs180`s. It will help you get the muscle memory needed to do steezy fsPopShuvs later

Thats awesome! The first months are great fun because there is so much you can learn pretty quick. If you find some tricks to give you a hard time and seem to be impossible to learn dont give up on it. The muscle memory needed for some tricks may take quite some time, for some maybe years (been there, done that haha). If you are stuck, move on to some other trick and try to keep shuffeling the tricks you do.

Also, sometimes you might stumble upon some other trick while trying something completly different. Like when I was learning nollie heelflips the deck accidentaly kept doing varial heelflips, go figure! But this implied I needed to do only a slight adjustment to keep the deck from spinning the 180. Like when you are learning kickflips the deck might want to varial kickflip, and you adjust to keep it from doing the 180 there too..

If you have not, be sure to goo on youtube and check out Taylor Rosenbauers Fingertips!

I know this is super old but oh my god, I love these.

So first of all, The way I do them, I think you should have your ollies super solid. I don't think knowing front 180s really help.

So basically, and again, this is just how I do them, you pop the board like a ollie, but right as the board gets off the ground, try and use your back finger to push the board in a clockwise rotation. You don't really have to throw your hand/wrist wildly. It's just a slight clockwise shove with your fingers, mainly your back finger.

Now when you do this the board will start to front shove a little higher than your middle/index finger. Because of this, as soon as the deck starts to front shove, try and raise your fingers above the deck to catch it for the land.

Also because the initial start of this trick is basically an ollie, you can pop these as high as you want just like an ollie. Just remember that the higher you pop these, the harder it's going to be to get your fingers back above the board.

Here's a video I filmed to hopefully help you even more.

I know this is one of my old post its just I wanted to add one final thing, for people who were struggling like me with front pops. Kinda start a fs 180 but let go about 45 degrees kinda and then wait for it to spin around catch and land simples happy hoped that helped
